REQUIREMENTS
Below are the requirements needed to join in the fun. Our registration form is available via e-mail or as a hard copy from Healthy Hounds after we speak by phone.
- Completed registration agreement available from Healthy Hounds initialed and signed by each owner
- Tag free quick release collar
- Rabies/Distemper (DHPP) vaccine
- Kennel Cough (aka Bordetella) vaccinations every 6 months
- Heartworm test/year round preventative. We strongly recommend Sentinel, as it protects against more parasites than Heartgard
- A regular program of flea, tick and mosquito prevention **
- Leptospirosis vaccine ∇
- Annual physical – During the annual physical, we require the specific fecal test for intestinal worms and parasites, including Giardia, listed below
- Gold Standard Fecal Test
The required fecal test is done the following way: zinc sulfate floatation/centrifugation along with a giarida antigen test. This is the gold standard in fecal exams, and a more thorough screener to rule out giardia and other intestinal parasites. Since giardia is common in puppies, we want as much assurance as possible that dogs coming into Healthy Hounds are healthy. Please be sure that your vet runs the fecal exam this way.
∇ Can sign a decline waiver – please see article on our website and consult your vet. Please click here to read more about the leptospirosis vaccine.
POLICIES + PROCEDURES
THERE IS A 2 VISIT/WEEK MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
***FLEA, TICK & MOSQUITO PREVENTION
We require a monthly application to prevent against fleas, tick & mosquitoes. Not all products repel against mosquitoes but Advantix ii does. With West Nile virus present, mosquitoes are a very real threat. Please do not bring flea collars to daycare.
In addition, please be sure that your dog is getting a monthly application against parasites. Sentinel is recommended over Heartgard because it protects against more parasites than Heartgard.
SICK POLICY
Please do not bring your dog to play groups if he or she has a limp, a sore, a wound, diarrhea within 24 hours or your suspicions that he or she is not feeling well. Credits will be applied for those who have paid in advance. We reserve the right to refuse daycare to any dog who we feel could pose a risk to him/herself and/or to others.
CANCELLATIONS
We require a 24 hour cancellation policy barring any dog illnesses or emergencies. Please do not bring your dog to playgroups if you suspect that you or anyone in your household has been exposed to COVID. If you have paid in advance we will credit you.
CONTACTLESS PICK UP AND DROP OFF
At Healthy Hounds: we will meet you at your vehicle at the prearranged drop off and pick up times.
At your house: we will meet your outside of your residence for both pick up and drop off.
TOURS + MEET AND GREETS
We are happy to schedule socially distanced tours when playgroups are not in session. Your dog is welcome into the building once we have received his or her medical records. Complimentary meet and greets are scheduled when playgroups are not in session and require a completed registration agreement which needs to be initialed and signed by all owners.
IMPORTANT… PLEASE HELP US KEEP ALL DOGS SAFE AND HEALTHY BY FOLLOWING THESE DO’S and DONT’S GUIDELINES.
DO'S
DO give your dog ample opportunity to FULLY eliminate no more than 20 minutes before play group starts. Like many people, most dogs need to fully eliminate in the morning, often multiple times.
Dog waste can transmit disease. Tense dogs can get into altercations.
Please help us to accomplish our goals of keeping everyone safe & healthy.
Please DO be sure that they have taken care of all their business before we arrive for pick up. We really need and appreciate your cooperation around this.
DON'TS
DO NOT have your dog wear a flea collar to playgroup.
DO NOT plan on playgroup if your dog has a limp, open sores, or any illness.
DO NOT plan on playgroup if your dog has had diarrhea within the past 24 hours.
Diarrhea does not necessarily mean that a dog is sick. However, it can be indicative of some types of illness. In accordance with our health & wellness goals to keep everyone safe and healthy, please DO NOT plan on your dog attending playgroup if he or she has had diarrhea within the past 24 hours. Please DO have a plan B in place both in terms of keeping your dog at home and picking him or her up if needed. We cannot keep dogs who have diarrhea.
Dogs who have had a lapse in attendance of 30 days or more will be considered inactive and required to have a negative fecal test before resuming.
It’s always about safety first for all!
